Wind Tunnel Exhibition by Hands On!

Wind Tunnel

What lifts an airplane into the sky? Kids find out when they feel the power of air pressure on their own bodies.

This open wind tunnel sends out a large air stream in which visitors can stand. By holding foam shapes, visitors feel the rise, fall and resistance of varied geometric shapes as the air stream moves over them. As they experiment, visitors discover that even subtle changes in shape and direction can have dramatic aerodynamic effects. The Wind Tunnel is a marvelous standalone platform for experimentation and works equally well as a tool for staff-led demonstration activities.
