Hydrogen Ball LauncherIn this explosive example of electrolysis, visitors transform electrical energy into chemical energy to create a powerful propellant. Using button controls, visitors start an electrical current flowing in electrodes inside a clear flask of water. The current works to split the water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. Once enough gas has been collected, the visitor loads the gas into the launch chamber, then combusts it in a contained chemical explosion that launches a ping-pong ball up a tall, clear tube with a surprising bang!
