Lie Detector

Lie Detector

This popular activity challenges visitors to use Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) technology to determine when someone is lying. Two visitors sit opposite each other, one playing the role of questioner and the other playing the role of liar. The liar places their fingers on a GSR plate. The questioner adjusts the GSR meter to zero and asks the liar to choose a number between 1 and 5. The liar is instructed to lie about what number they really picked. The questioner asks, "Did you pick number 1, number 2…" and so on, and then watches the response of the needle on the meter as the liar responds yes or no. Based on these reactions, the questioner should be able to tell which number provoked the most response and determine which number the liar really picked.
