By tapping into the child’s natural sense of wonder and awe, Hands On! created an exhibition that inspires kids to take initiative and develop skills and self-confidence that can be drawn upon when dealing with new situations and opportunities. From painting a Volkswagen Beetle to navigating a rope maze, Hands On! planned, designed and fabricated the entire museum to offer opportunities to learn through intergenerational play. Mixing art, science and social/cultural disciplines, role-playing and “maker” opportunities abound, allowing children to create art, use tools, invent identities and tell stories.

In 2010, 13 years after our original collaboration, CDMOD once again called on Hands On! to expand its exhibition offerings. We created the new “Go and Grow!” gallery, which provides open-ended STEM-based experiences that challenge growing minds and broaden the museum’s age appeal to fourth and fifth graders.

"Hands On! exceeded our expectations when they created the original CDMOD, and we were thrilled to collaborate with them again on our museum expansion. Together we are inventing dynamic new learning environments. We rely on Hands On! to bring us the highest level of creativity and inventiveness."
