Conceptual Planning

Hands On! worked with Louisiana Children’s Museum and early childhood learning expert Jeanne Vergeront to develop the foundational concept plan for an ambitious collaboration called the Early Learning Village—a multi-purpose, multi-partner community center designed to support children and caregivers in every aspect of their lives. Lively and dynamic, built on the educational groundwork laid by Reggio Emilia, five exciting galleries will engage children and adults in playful exploration and encourage them to make joyous connections with the world. Supporting parent-child attachment and strong relationships, fostering health and wellness, connecting with nature, and engaging creativity and expression, each gallery is an invitation to children and adults to come play and learn together.

"This broad-based and holistic initiative has grown through the involvement of a team of consultants who understand the complex nature of integrated planning and design services. With their knowledge of international design, their creativity, and their skill at listening and reflecting upon the complex design needs of the project, Hands On! guided the organizing strategy of 'Joyous Connections' that continues to shape our planning."
